이 논문의 목적은 신성 로마 제국의 전도 분석을 위한 리차드 플래처(Richard Fletcher)의 아홉 가지 연구 질문 즉, 첫째, 왜 교황 그레고리 1세는 잉글랜드를 기독 교로 개종 시키기로 결정했나? 둘째, 로마교회 전도자들이 받은 훈련은 무엇이며 어 떤 전략과 방법을 사용했나? 셋째, 초기 중세 ‘성공적인 전도’의 조건은 무엇이었나? 넷째, 전도 대상자에게 기대한 바는 무엇이었나? 다섯째, 전도 대상자에게 복음을 전 하기 위해 어떻게 의사소통을 했는가? 여섯째, 어느 정도까지 전도자들이 전도지역의 문화와 전통을 변화를 주었는가? 일곱째, 새신자에게 요구되는 사항은 무엇이었나? 여덟째, 현지 성직자와 여성 문제, 성경 용어, 십일조 문제에 로마 교회는 어떤 입장 을 취했나? 아홉째, 개인과 사회로부터 어떤 시점에 그리스도인이 되었다고 인정받을 수 있었는가?2)를 켈트 기독교에 적용하여 5세기 켈트 기독교의 전도를 분석함에 있 다. 본고는 파트 2로써 첫째, 전도 대상자에게 기대한 바는 무엇이었나? 둘째, 전도 대사장에게 복음을 전하기 위해 어떻게 의사소통을 했는가? 셋째, 어느 정도까지 전도자들이 전도지역의 문화와 전통을 변화를 주었는가?를 중점적으로 다루었다. 연구 결과로써, 첫째, 켈트 기독교는 로마 기독교와는 다르게 명목상 그리스도인을 배출하지 않고 성서적 제자를 양성하기 위한 소울 스페이스, 소울 프렌드, 소그룹 시스템을 운영하였다. 둘째, 전도를 위한 의사 소통을 위해 Top-Down방식이 아닌 Down-Top 방식을 취하여 수신자 지향적 의사소통을 했음을 찰스 크래프트(Charles Kraft)이론을 중심으로 밝혔다. 셋째, 켈트 기독교는 로마 기독교와 달리 자생적 기독교를 세울 수 있는 상황화를 폴 히버트(Paul Hiebert)이론으로 밝혀내어 켈트 기독교의 전도 전략을 오늘날 교회에 적용할 수 있는 역사적 증례를 남겼다.
Abstract
This study is to apply nine research questions; 1) why the pope Gregory I made a decision to convert England to Christianity? 2) what trains were the Roman evangelists received? 3) in the early medieval era, what the conditions of the successful evangelism were? 4) what were expected from the evangelists? 5) how did they communicate for winning souls? 6) to what extent did the evangelists make changes on the indigenous traditions and cultures? 7) what were expected from the new converts? 8) what were the stances of the Roman church on tithe, woman, biblical terms and the indigenous leaders? 9) when was a new convert recognized a Christian by individuals and society?, that Richard Fletcher raised for investigation of the Holy Roman Church way of evangelism to investigate the Celtic way of evangelism in the fifth century. As the part II, 4 to 6 questions are discussed. As a result, first, unlike Roman Christianity, Celtic Christianity did not reproduce nominal Christians, but biblical disciples by running system such as soul space, soul friend, and small group. Second, for evangelism, communication was not following top-down style, but down-top way were preferred. Specifically, receptive-oriented communication was discussed by employing Charles Kraft’s theory. Third, by using Paul Hiebert’s contextualization theory, why Celtic Christianity was able to become indigenous church unlike Roman Christianity was revealed.
