이슬람과 국내 언론의 시각: 2011-2019년을 중심으로

본 연구는 2011년부터 2019년까지 이슬람과 무슬림을 주제어로 언급한 언론 기사를 정량 분석을위해 15,489건의 수집하였다. 분석을 위해서는 비지도 학습 기반의 머신러닝을 이용했다. 중동과 관련일반적이지 않은 특수한 단어들이 많기 때문에 방대한 사전이 필요한 지도 학습 형태인 형태소 분석을 배제했다. 분석은 재현성을위해 R과 영국 런던 정경대 (LSE)의 사회과학을 위한 텍스트 마이닝 패키지인 콴테다 (Qanteda)를 이용하였다. 분석은 잠재 디리클레 할당 (Latent Dirichlet Allocation: LDA)을 이용한 토픽 분석 및 공기어 분석을 실시하였다. 이를 토대로 2011년부터 2019년까지 매년 이슬람 세계를 다룬 국내 언론의 주요 관심사와 이슈를 정량화 할 수있었다. 국내 언론은 아랍의 봄에 대한 언급을 시작으로 ISIS에 대한 내용에 주력하여 살펴보았으며, 최근에 이르러서는 이슬람 세계에 대한 주제가 중동지역을 벗어난 이슬람 지역과 할랄 산업, 국가 안보와 관련된 사항등으로 다각화되었다. 이슬람 세계에 대한 언론의 초점은 국제 사회의 주요 이슈에서 국내에 영향을 미치는 영역으로 확장되고 있다.
Abstract
Media portraits social frames of opinions on social matters. This paper presents quantitative text-mining based analysis of Korean news agencies 'Islam and Muslims perspectives' from 2011 to 2019. As a method, the author applied machine learning based on unsupervised learning with the media contents. For reproductivity of the research, this paper used R and London School of Economics (LSE)'s social sciences text mining package Qanteda. The analysis conducted with topic analysis with Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and Co-occurrence network analysis. Based on the above method, research was able to find Korean media interests in the Islamic world. The author found that the Korean media portrayed Arab spring, ISIS, and halal, Islam related issues on South Asia.
