본 논문은 토픽 모델링(Topic Modeling)의 분석 방법을 활용하여 2003년부터 2020년까지포털사이트에 있는 포퓰리즘 관련 뉴스를 분석한 연구이다. 수집된 뉴스는 정권별로 기간을나누고 자동레이블링이 적용된 LDA모형으로 토픽(Topic)을 분류하였다. 그리고 토픽에서 이해관계자와 이슈를 파악하고, 정권별 포퓰리즘 내용의 차이점을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 포퓰리즘 뉴스는 경제지를 중심으로 포퓰리즘 이슈가 공유되고 있으며, 종합지에서 정파적 성격에 따라 뉴스량의 차이는 거의 없었다. 정권별로 주요 행위자와 이슈를 비교한 결과, 무상급식, 무상보육 등 복지 포퓰리즘은 전 정권에 걸쳐 나타나고 있으며 접근 방향은 좌우 대립을 취하고 있었다. 그리고 문재인 정권에 들어서 포퓰리즘 이슈가 다양해지고 세분화 되는 양상을 보였다. 주로 경제적 이슈를 중심으로 좌우를 넘어 세대를 기반한 이슈로확대되고 있었다.
Abstract
This paper analyzes news related to populism registered on portal sites from 2003 to 2020 using the analysis method of topic modeling. The collected news was classified by topic using the LDA model to which automatic labeling was applied. In addition, we analyzed the stakeholders and issues in the words included in the topic, and analyzed the differences in populism issues by government. As a result of the analysis, the issues of populism news were shared centered on economic magazines. And in the case of comprehensive magazines, there was little difference in the amount of news according to the factional nature. As a result of comparing major actors and issues by government, welfare populism such as free school meals and free childcare appeared throughout the entire government. And the approach of welfare populism was taking a left and right opposition. However, under the Moon Jae-in administration, populism issues have been diversified and subdivided. Mainly focusing on economic issues, it is expanding to issues based on generations beyond left and right.
