탐라신행첩과 이경억의 교유 양상

Abstract

The Tamna Shinhaengcheop(耽羅贐行帖)(Register of the Journey to Tamna), housed at the National Museum of Korea (Main Building 5032) and currently exhibited at the National Museum of Jeju, is a byeoljangcheop(別章帖, farewell anthology). This collection was created by Lee Gyeong-eok(李慶億, 1620～1673), a anheok eosa (按覈御史, inspector), prior to his departure to Jeju and consists of farewell writings given to him by colleagues. In 1651, an incident occurred in Jeju where An Jip(安緝, 1623～?), the magistrate of Jeongui County(旌義縣監), ran toward Jeju's chief magistrate(濟州牧使), Kim Su-ik(金壽翼, 1600～1673), wielding a sword and hurling insults. Lee Gyeong-eok(李慶億) was dispatched to investigate the incident and understand its background. The intriguing nature of the incident has garnered public interest, and the preserved condition of the cheop(帖) itself has facilitated its exhibition. However, until now, explanations of its content have been lacking. This study aims to prevent the museum artifact from becoming a “dead collection” by translating it, while also analyzing the underexplored interpersonal networks between Lee Gyeong-eok(李慶億) and the Seoin(西人) faction of the mid-17th century, thereby revealing the historical significance of this material. The annotations and commentary are intended to be accessible to non-specialists, with the hope that both Tamna Shinhaengcheop(耽羅贐行帖) and this work can find application in other fields.
