<규원가>의 시대적 향유방식과 의의 - 잡가집을 중심으로

Abstract

This paper puts an in-depth study on the thematic characteristics of <Kywonga> and seeks to reconstruct its significance by examining it alongside the Japgajip that have been transmitted to later generations through <Wonbusa> and <Cheongruwon Byeolgok>. <Kyuwonga> reflects the longing for a reunion with a loved one who has not returned, as a sentiment typical of women's work from the 16th century. The diverse motifs within this work are directly mirrored in the content of later women's Gasa. The specificity of the content is revealed through ‘addressing own age’, expressing one's inner thoughts, while the expression of personal sentiments through the ‘seasonal changes’ and the hope for reunion through ‘dreams’ are evident in <Kyuwonga>. Although traces of <Kyuwonga> in subsequent editions are difficult to find in Gyubang, they are featured under the names of <Wonbusa> and <Cheongruwon Byeolgok> in 14 volumes of Japgajip published after 1910, enabling an understanding of their enjoyment patterns in the modern and contemporary periods. These two works were enjoyed by the consumer class, including professional singers and courtesans, which might explain why the enjoyment patterns are not evident in Gyubang. The enjoyment patterns of <Kyuwonga> in later periods were compared by examining its inclusion in <Wonbusa> and <Cheongruwon Byeolgok> in the <Shingujabga> and <Shingusihangjabga> published in 1914, as well as in the <Daejeungbo Musangyuheng Shingujabga (II)> published in 1958. The results revealed no significant differences in content, but due to the nature of Japga, descriptions focused more on vocalization for singing rather than on delicate expressions. It was observed that the descriptions and content structures were similar across the works, depending on their respective titles. The significance of the consumption method of <Kyuwonga> lies in its role as an extension of the content of later women's songs within the lamentation song genre. While <Wonbusa> and <Cheongruwon Byeolgok> underwent changes in content as they belonged to the category of Japga, they retained significance in connecting past literature to the modern and contemporary periods. Additionally, during the period of Japanese colonial rule when publications were subject to censorship, reviving the previously overlooked <Kyuwonga> in our literary tradition allowed many enjoying people to appreciate the beauty of Gasa literature, thus uncovering another layer of significance.
