1974년의 자유실천문인협의회로부터 현재에 이르기까지 50년에 이른 한국작가회의의 여러 활동과 위상을 살펴보고 미래의 조직적 구성과 양상을 제안해 보려는 시도로 작성된 논문이다. 특히 집중한 것은 현재의 한국작가회의가 처한 조직적 곤경의 이유를 살펴보고 그 곤경을 해결하기 위한 대안을 원론적인 차원에서 논의해보는 작업이다. 이를 위해 한국작가회의 본회와 지역 작가회의의 상호 관계가 어떻게 조직되어야 할지에 대해 심층적으로 분석했다. 이를 위해 우리에게 민주주의란 무엇인지 살펴보았다. 또 한국문학과 민주주의의 관계를 실체화하는 지역문학의 위상에 대해서도 논의했다. 한국사회가 1960년대부터 최근에 이르기까지 경험한 갈등과 세대론적 에너지가 지금 도달한 모습을 고려해야만 한국문학의 미래가 있다는 사실도 살폈다. 그 결론은 문인들의 조직이 이제는 개체들의 공동체로 나아가야 한다는 것이다.
Abstract
This paper was written in an attempt to examine the various activities and status of the Korean Writers' Association from the Free Writers' Association to the present and to suggest future organizational structures and aspects. In particular, it focuses on examining the reasons for the current organizational difficulties of the Korean Writers' Association and discussing alternatives to resolve the difficulties at a fundamental level. To this end, it deeply analyzed how the mutual relationship between the Korean Writers' Association headquarters and regional writers' associations should be organized. To this end, we looked into what democracy means to us. We also discussed the status of local literature that substantiates the relationship between Korean literature and democracy. We also looked into the fact that the future of Korean literature lies in considering the conflicts and generational energy that Korean society has experienced from the 1960s to the present.The conclusion is that the organization of writers should now move toward a community of individuals.
