코로나19로 인한 초등학생 영어학습결손 보완을 위한 낭독극 활용 실행 연구

This study explored how an elementary school teacher addressed EFL students’ English learning loss during the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing reader’s theater. This study enrolled 185 students over one year. Data comprising video recordings, questionnaires, lecture notes, and learning journals underwent both quantitative and qualitative analyses. This study was conducted in four stages. In the initial stage, class routines were resettled and students adapted to these new routines. In the second stage, as quarantine restrictions were lifted, students showed increased engagement in interactive activities previously limited for two years. In the third stage, English music and literature were introduced to foster students' interest. In the final stage, students demonstrated growth in English proficiency and developed self-directed learning abilities. This research revealed cognitive and emotional obstacles faced by students and highlighted the potential of personalized teacher feedback to support middle- and lower-level students in overcoming learning setbacks. This study offers practical suggestions for English educators in the post-pandemic era.
