발토 - 슬라브어의 악센트 파라다임 ( accent paradigm ) - 형태론적 접근법에 의하여 -

Abstract

Lituanian has four accent paradigms: AP1, 2, 3, 4. But with a close look into these systems, some of the case forms have irregular accent, which contradicts its paradigm. De Saussure was the first accentologist that found out the reason of such irregular accent. He noted that in such irregular forms, stress moved from the root to the desinence. In this case the root has circumflex and the desinence has acute tone. So he came to the conclusion that the pitch contrast between the root and the desinence caused such stress shift. This stress shift causes change in accent. Accentologists like Kurytowicz, Hjelmslev thought that accent is a morphemic feature. And in such a pitch relation, one morpheme (the desinence) pulls the stress from the other morpheme (root). This means, one morpheme accentually dominates the other. $quot;the feature of the morpheme$quot; and $quot;dominance$quot; are just the essence of the accent in Balto-Slavic. Accent paradigm also is the product of the accent feature of the morphemes.
