Abstract

In this paper, we discuss the semantic type structures of Korean predicative nouns. We also discuss morphological and syntactic characteristics of predicative nouns. Finally, we give some representation of semantic structures of predicative nouns in the framework of the theory of Generative Lexicon. Semantically, we characterize predicative nouns as denoting semantic objects of type <e, ... <s,t>, which is in contrast with non-predicative nouns of the semantic type <e, ... <e,t>. Therefore, some relational nouns which were treated as predicative nouns are not counted as such in this characterization.
