Abstract
This paper describes the Korean transaction verbs ‘sada’ (buy) and ‘palda' (sell) within the Meaning-Text Model of I. Mel'čuk and applies his lexicographic descriptions of the Explanatory and Combinatory Dictionary (ECD) to these two verbs with particular reference to lexico-semantic representations of their polysemy. The semantic representaions start from the compositon of the definition of a lexie and provide very precise distinctions between lexies (or senses) which are hierachically structured in a vocable, and between vocables in keeping with the basic principles and various formal criteria.
