초록
In this paper, I argue that English and Korean transitive verbs are not verbal at the big head projection (cf. Alexiadou 2001). Conceptually, it is redundant to specify the category of a verbal projection in both the functional head and the lexical head (cf. Marantz 1997, 1999, Alexiadou 2001). Thus assuming that a big head projection of a verbal projection possessing a theta-role assigning little v head is acategorial (cf. Alexiadou 2001), VP-nominalizations of transitive verbs will not be possible since they are not yet verbal. I argue that this is indeed the case in both English transitive verbs and Korean native transitive verbs, which suggests English and Korean transitive verbs are not verbal at the big head level.
