초록
This study investigates ealstohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) by considering the truncation effect in the contact area resulting from significant axial loads, along with fluid entrainment at arbitrary angles. Mechanical systems such as angular contact ball bearings and ball screws that utilize balls as rolling elements must endure substantial axial loads. Under these circumstances, the balls experience considerable axial displacement and roll along the edge of the raceway due to high contact angles. In this study, we focus on the EHL phenomenon under the truncation effect, where the contact area is reduced as the ball undergoes significant axial displacement and rolls along the raceway edge. In addition, we consider fluid entrainment at an arbitrary angle rather than solely in the radial direction to account for a non-aligned rolling direction. To investigate the behavior of the thin lubricant film in 3D, we numerically solve the generalized Reynolds equation using a semi-system approach. Elastic deformation and subsurface stress are computed using the discrete convolution and fast Fourier transform method. We apply the conjugate gradient method to determine the dry contact pressure in truncated contact areas, allowing for a comparison between dry contact pressure and EHL pressure. Finally, we discuss fluid velocity in relation to the truncation effect and arbitrary angle.
