Abstract

This study intended to present how to collaborate between teachers and artists in the artists-in-schools program, based on a pilot project of arts and cultural education in 2012. It was found that, especially in primary schools, artists-in-schools program could succeed in case of it's connection to the regular curriculum. For this, it is needed for recipient schools to contribute financially, and for MoC to enhance the management of the program. Along with these requisite conditions, role-sharing between teachers and teaching artists will be designed in two ways: regular classroom teaching and creative experience activities. When it comes to the regular classroom teaching, the 4 types of role-sharing could be considered: role-separated, teacher-initiated, teaching artists-initiated, and partnering. Which type will be appropriate for collegiate teaching depends on the comport level of teachers and the professional level of TAs. In case of creative experience activities which are to allow for students to participate in the design and inquiry of the program, teachers and teaching artists have to work together as facilitator and assistant, The pilot project of arts and cultural education in 2013 was designed to connect the project with regular curriculum, different from that of 2012. But, in order to become to be an effective effort, it should be guaranteed for teachers and teaching artists to cooperate for instruction design and preparation before the start of new semester. And some positive concern and support from recipient schools also should be guaranteed.
