본 연구는 지역의 경제활성화 차원에서 경제적 통합방안을 제시하고, 이의 가능성을 타진하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 그랜저 인과관계 검정을 통해 지역간 상호연관관계를 검토하고 집적경제 변수를 포함한 초월대수 비용함수를 추정하여 집적경제 효과를 분석하였다. 분석결과 경기도 서북부에 속해 있는 고양시, 김포시, 파주시는 상호간에 경제적 연관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 상호연관관계가 있는 지역을 통합할 경우 집적경제 효과는 점차 높아지는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 경제적 통합이 경제활성화를 촉진시킬 수 있는 하나의 대안으로서 가능하다고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to estimate the effects of regional economic integration on regional productivity in manufacturing of North-Western area of Gyeonggi Province using the Granger Casuality Test and the Translog Cost Function. This paper finds that if three cities including Goyang-si, Paju-si and Gimpo-si reach economic integration, regional agglomeration effect would occurs more stronger than the separated case. It implies that the regional integration could be one of primary strategies for efficient allocation of regional resources.
