심리적 진로장벽과 진로미결정의 관계 : 2 SLS 추정을 통한 접근

본 연구에서는 연령을 도구변수로 활용하고, 2 SLS 추정방법을 사용하여 심리적 진로장벽과 진로미결정의 관계를 확인하였다. 기존 선행연구에서는 사회인지진로이론(SCCT)의 관점에서 심리적 진로장벽과 진로미결정의 유의한 관계가 일관되게 제시되었으며, 대체로 심리적 진로장벽이 설명 변인으로서 해석되었다. 그러나 최근 국외 연구에서는 심리적 진로장벽 및 진로미결정의 관계를 인과관계로 해석하는 것의 위험성이 제시되고 있다. 특히 국내의 선행연구들이 대체로 상관분석이나 OLS 회귀분석을 통해 심리적 진로장벽과 진로미결정의 관계를 확인하였다는 점에서, 이와 같은 인과관계 해석에 대한 우려는 적절하다고 판단하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존에 제시되어 온 심리적 진로장벽과 진로미결정의 관계를 한국고용정보원에서 실시한 청년 패널 2007(YP2007)데이터를 대상으로 2 SLS 방법을 통해 재확인했다. 연구 대상은 1977-1993년 출생한 밀레니얼 621명이었으며, 이들의 심리적 진로장벽 문항 응답 결과와 진로미결정 문항 응답결과를 활용하여 분석하였다. OLS 회귀분석 결과 심리적 진로장벽 → 진로미결정의 관계와 진로미결정 → 심리적 진로장벽의 관계가 모두 유의하게 제시되되었다. 또한 2 SLS 분석 결과 연령을 도구변수로 활용한 후에, 심리적 진로장벽이 진로미결정에 미치는 영향이 유의하지 않음이 제시되었다. 이를 통해, 심리적 진로장벽과 진로미결정 간의 인과관계가 성립하지 않을 수 있다는 가능성을 확인하였고, 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 진로상담 실제에 시사점을 제시하고자 했다.

Abstract

This research focuses on the causal relationship between psychological career barriers and career indecision. Previous research has shown the relationship between two variables. However, there are limitations in that most of the research used correlation analysis or regression analysis to present the results. In this research paper, the relationship between psychological career barriers and career indecision is re-examined through the 2SLS procedure which is one of the Instrumental Variable Regression methods. By using age as an instrumental variable, this study aims to overcome the bias from endogenous problem and present consistent estimation through the IV method. To apply IV method, 2SLS is conducted using YP 2007 data. The subject of this study is Millennials who were born between 1977 and 1993. From the OLS results, it is shown that both psychological career barriers → career indecision path and career indecision → psychological career barriers path are significant. However, the 2SLS result is not significant. From these results, it can be deduced that causal relationships between psychological career barriers and career indecision should not be easily assumed.
