초록

진로선택 및 결정과정에 미치는 맥락적, 환경적 요인의 영향력에 대해 주목한 연구자들은 이를 진로장벽이라 명명하고 그 의미와 역할에 대해 연구하기 시작하였다. 본 연구는 개인의 진로발달 및 진전과정을 어렵게 만드는 내적, 환경적 사건이나 조건을 진로장벽으로 개념규정하고, 최근의 연구들을 개관하였다. 이를 통해 아직 시작단계에 있는 진로장벽 연구의 결과들을 수렴하고, 상담 및 연구실제에 대한 시사점과 후속 연구를 위한 단서들을 찾으려는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 진로장벽에 대한 개념적 정의와 지각된 진로장벽이 주목받게 된 배경을 간단히 살펴본 후 여러 진로이론들 중 진로장벽의 영향관계를 비교적 잘 보여줄 수 있는 이론인 사회인지적 진로이론에 입각해서 진로장벽의 역할과 기능을 살펴보았다. 그리고 소수이긴 하지만 진로장벽에 대해 탐색한 초기의 연구결과들과 관련변인에 대한 연구 및 사회인지적 관점에서의 연구들을 검토함으로써, 진로선택과정에서 지각된 진로장벽의 의미와 역할에 대해 생각해보고자 하였다. 마지막으로 진로장벽연구가 상담 및 연구실제에 주는 시사점을 고찰하였다.

Abstract

When people anticipate the negative effects of career choice, the perception of career barriers influences directly and indirectly one’s career interests, career objective selection and career actions. So, some researchers gradually highlight and study the effects of perceived career barriers recently. And the empirical studies and theory based researches are more and more expanded. This study is devoted to investigate the role and function of career barriers perceived in the process of career choice and decision making. For this purpose, the author reviews the definition of career barriers and contexts why the concept of career barriers is appeared and noticed. Then, discusses the role of career barriers in the perspectives of many career choice theories, especially in the view of social cognitive career theory. And examines empirical results of career barriers related studies and looks into the trends of career barriers studies and future research subjects. Finally, the author considers the implications and meanings of career barriers studies in relation to counseling practices and researches.
