모든 교육의 이론과 실천은 인간에 대한 특정한 관점 혹은 이해에 근거하여 이루어진다. 본 논문은 현재 우리 시대를 규정하는 포스트모더니즘이 가지는 인간관의 특징을 개관하고 그 교육적 함의를 논구하고자 하였다. 먼저, 논문에서는 모더니즘의 정초를 놓았던 Descartes와 대표적인 포스트모던 사상가인 Lyotard, Baudrillard, Foucault, Rorty가 주장하는 인간에 대한 견해를 간략하게 이해하고, 이에 근거하여 인간 자아에 대한 포스트모던적 관점이 가지는 특징을 근대적인 시각과 비교하여 고찰하고자 한다. 그런 다음 포스트모던 인간관이 가지는 교육적 함의를 학생관, 학습 과정, 교사의 역할이라는 측면에서 논한다. 교사들이나 혹은 교사와 학생들 사이에서 근대적 인간관과 포스트모던적 인간관은 날카롭게 대립하고 있는 것으로 보일 수 있다. 그러나 포스트모던적 인간관을 근대적 인간관의 단면성을 보완하여 인간에 대한 좀 더 완전한 관점을 제공하는 것으로 해석하여 수용할 수도 있다. 교육과 인간에 대해서 서로 다른 두 관점을 상호보완적으로 해석하여 받아들이는 것이 급변하는 교육 상황 속에서 교육활동에 종사하는 교사들에게 실제적이고 현실적인 전략이 될 수도 있다. 이 논문은 이런 입장에 근거하여 포스트모던 인간관이 가지는 교육적 함의에 대하여 논하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine postmodern anthropology and its educational implications. For this purpose, the research, at first, gives glance at a recent postmodern idea of human being with reference to prominent postmodern philosophers such as Lyotard, Baudrillard, Foucault and Rorty, and then, tries to figure out briefly postmodern view of the self, and finally, discusses the educational implications of the recent idea of human being (or the self). Postmodern thinkers devise new perspectives on human being. In postmodern ideas, the self is no more independent, unified, unitary and stable, but relational, multiple, ever changing and contingent. The research discusses some implications for educational practice in terms of the perception of learners, the learning process, and the interaction between teachers and learners. It is necessary to accept a stance of symbiosis between the modern and postmodern interpretation of human being and educational process. Although it may seem as if postmodern ideas of human being are opposing the modern anthropology, they should rather be viewed as complementary. They are not opposite but different.
