Abstract

Pampaedia is an important work in Comenius-research as the last pedagogical writing of Johann Amos Comenius(1592-1670). “All men is to be developed in all respects and in all thoroughness”(OMNES homines excoli, et OMNIBUS excoli, et OMNINÒ excoli). This is the core-statement of Pampaedia. The statement shows three principles of Comenius' education ‘all men’(πάντες-omnes), ‘all respects’’(πάντα-omnia), ‘all thoroughness’(πάντως-omnino). Through these three words Comenius deals with educational principles about educational target-students, educational contents, teaching methods. The current study revels what each of three educational principles means and then shows that Comenius' educational thought is closely associated with thought of Christianity. Furthermore, the study states that the education of Pampaedia may be a theoretical foundation of Christian education. Because the central message of the educational principles of pampaedia shows an education returning to God.
