Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analysis of research on instructional technology approach for students with intellectual disabilities and to offer guideline for special education services matching to their's needs. From seven international journals that published from the 1997 to 2004, 17 articles met the criteria for this review. The focus of the analysis was on what technological devices' characteristics be used to instructional technology approach and how technology's use methods connect instructional approaches. Then articles were analyzed by descriptive analysis. As a result, Implications for further research and practice was suggested as follows: 1) Instructional technology in special education should be diversified within research method, subject, or intervention domain. 2) The base of technology device and service to actively implement this field should be prepared. 3) The systematical investigations that different instructional approaches integrate with technology should be studied to support their learning. 4) Instructional technology in special education should be considered as tools for their educational and social inclusion. 5) A research on instructional technology approach for students with intellectual disabilities should be required to show evidences about generalization and social validity of intervention.
