놀이다움은 놀이의 질적 특성으로, 본 연구의 목적은 영재아동의 놀이다움 요소별 특성과 수준을 밝히기 위한 사례연구다. 본 연구에 적용된 연구도구는 관찰적 진단도구로서, 동기근원, 통제지각, 현실감 부재, 참조체계 4개의 하위요소로 구성된 놀이다움 평정척도(Test of Playfulness)를 사용하였다. 연구대상은 영재아동으로 판정된 6세 0개월의 남아 1명을 목적표집 하였고, 아동의 자유놀이 상황을 15분간 비디오 촬영한 후 두 가지 방법으로 분석하였다. 하나는 놀이다움 요소에 해당되는 모든 놀이활동을 놀이다움 평정 척도 지침서를 기초로 분석하여 서술적으로 기술하였고, 또 다른 하나는 놀이다움 평정척도의 평정결과를 기초로 놀이다움 수준을 프로파일로 나타냈다. 영재아동의 놀이다움 사례연구 결과 첫째, 동기근원에서 매우 높은 내적 동기 성향을 보였고, 둘째, 통제지각 즉 독자적 통제지각과 공유적 통제지각 모두에서 매우 높은 내적 통제 성향을 보였고, 셋째, 상상력과 창의적인 능력을 보는 현실감 부재능력에서도 매우 자유스런 현실감 부재 성향을 보였다. 넷째, 타인과 사회적 단서를 주거나 반응하는 참조체계능력에서도 매우 높은 자유스런 성향을 보였다. 이와 같은 결과를 종합 할 때 영재아동은 매우 질적으로 높은 수준의 놀이다움에 참여하였다.
Abstract
The present study purposed to find out characteristics and levels of four elements of a gifted child's playfulness. The four elements are intrinsic motivation, internal motivation, suspension of reality, and framing. The subject of research was a six-year-old boy who was diagnosed as a gifted child by WISC-IIIR and KEDI Test of Gifted Children. In order to collect data, the child's play behavior was video recorded and analysis was done by an observational scale, Test of Playfulness. Since the playfulness has qualitative characteristics of play, the results were reported in two ways: one was descriptive report and the other was quantitative report using the ToP scale. The subject child showed very high intrinsic motivation; independent and cooperative motivation control which means internal motivation; suspension of reality, that is ability of imagination and creativity; and free framing tendency which means interaction with others. These results suggest that the gifted child has very high playfulness and further study with more gifted children and comparative study with non-gifted or disability groups are needed to generalize the result.
