Abstract

This article reviews the effectiveness of parent training intervention used in the treatment of children with attention deficit hyperactive disorders (ADHD) because children with ADHD and their parents' relationships continuously affect their main symptoms. The articles were selected using five criteria: (1) subjects are children or adolescents with ADHD, (2) intervention components included parent training, (3) case studies, surveys and review articles were excluded (4) published from 1997 to 2007. Using these criteria 14 articles were selected. This study analyzes and describes the relationship between children/adolescents with ADHD and their parents, and further analyzes mother's participation, father's participation, theoretical basis, parent training, independent variable, training system, and long-term effects. Discussions of the study and implications for future research are provided regarding this study's results and the field of special education for learners with ADHD.
