이 연구는 장애아 어머니가 지각한 가족기능· 적응· 양육효능감과의 인과관계를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 선정한 연구 문제는 첫째, 장애아 어머니의 경제적 상태에 따라 가족기능(결속력, 적응력, 표현력), 적응, 양육효능감에는 어떤 차이가 있는지를 분석한다. 둘째, 장애아 어머니의 교육수준에 따라 가족기능(결속력, 적응력, 표현력), 적응, 양육효능감에는 어떤 차이가 있는지를 분석한다. 셋째, 장애아 어머니의 가족기능(결속력, 적응력, 표현력), 적응, 양육효능감 변인 간에는 어떤 관계가 있는지를 분석한다. 연구문제에 따른 결과는 경제적 상태와 교육수준이 높을수록 가족기능과 양육 효능감이 높게 나타나 장애아 어머니의 적응을 높이고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 가족의 결속력, 적응력이 장애아 어머니의 적응에 영향을 미치고, 양육 효능감은 적응을 매개로 가족기능의 결속력, 표현력에 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 교육수준이 낮은 부모들은 경제적 상태도 낮아 적응에 어려움을 겪고 있음을 나타내는 것이다, 이는 교육수준이 낮은 저소득층 장애아 부모들을 위한 경제적 지원뿐만 아니라 장애자녀 교육에 필요한 지식 제공과 적응에 도움이 되는 프로그램이 필요함을 시사하고 있다. 앞으로 장애아 가족의 적응을 위해 사회· 경제적 상황이 고려된 지원의 방향을 모색할 때 본 연구의 결과가 이론적 기초가 될 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the causal relationship among family functioning(family cohesion, adaptation capability, and expressive ability), adaptation, and parenting efficacy perceived by mothers with handicapped children. The research questions of this study were as follows: Firstly, are there any differences in the three factors(family functioning, adaptation, and parenting efficacy) perceived by mothers with handicapped children due to the economic status of the mothers? Secondly, are there any differences in the three factors perceived by the mothers due to the educational backgrounds of the mothers? Thirdly, are there any relationship among these three factors? The main findings of this study showed that the higher the economic status and the educational backgrounds of mothers were, the higher the level of family functioning and parenting efficacy reached, which enhanced the adaptation capability of the mothers. The family cohesion and the adaptation capability affected the adaptation of mothers with the handicapped children. Also, the parenting efficacy affected the family cohesion and the expressive ability of family functioning through adaptation as a mediator. The results tell that the mothers with lower educational backgrounds and lower economic status have difficulties in adaptation. This presents the necessity of service programs that support the mothers who have lower educational backgrounds and are on low income. The programs provide the services for education of handicapped children, and help the adaptation of the families with handicapped children. The results of this study can be a theoretical basis in planning support programs that help the adaptation of families with handicapped children.
