자기결정력 향상 프로그램 적용이 경도 발달장애 중학생의 자기결정력 증진에 미치는 효과

초록

본 연구는 자기결정력 향상 프로그램 적용이 경도 발달장애 중학생의 자기결정력과 자기결정 관련 행동에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구설계는 사전사후검사 통제집단설계이며, 집단 간 평점의 차이에 대한 유의성을 확인하기 위하여 t검정을 실시하였고, 자기결정력의 사전 사후 효과를 좀 더 상세히 연구하기 위해 반구조화 면담법을 사용한 질적 연구를 병행하였다. 연구대상은 경도 발달장애 중학생 20명이었으며, 실험집단과 통제집단에 각각 10명씩 무선 배치하였다. 본 연구의 독립변인인 자기결정력 향상 프로그램은 실험집단을 대상으로 주 3회, 매회 50분씩 총 30회기에 걸쳐 실시되었다. 자기결정 프로그램은 Field와 Hoffman(1996)의 ‘자기결정 향상을 위한 5단계 프로그램’에서 제시하고 있는 프로그램을 참고하여 우리 실정에 맞게 그 활동 내용을 재구성하였고, 구성요소는 자기인식, 자신의 가치 및 존중, 계획, 실행, 결과에 대한 평가의 단계로 이루어져 있다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기결정력 향상 프로그램의 적용은 경도 발달 장애 중학생의 자기결정력 증진에 효과적이었다. 둘째, 자기결정력 향상 프로그램에 참여한 경도 발달장애 중학생은 자기결정 관련 행동 변화에 긍정적인 효과를 보였다. 결론적으로 자기결정력 향상 프로그램은 경도 발달장애 중학생의 자기결정력에 긍정적인 효과를 보이는 것으로 판단된다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the Self-Determination Improvement Program on promoting the self-determination level of middle school students with mild developmental disabilities. This study is based on the pretest-posttest trial group design. In proceeding the study, the researcher conducted a quantitative survey in which t-test was used to compare the effects of the program and then a qualitative survey in which semi-structured interviews were used to analyze in detail the pre-and post-tests of self-determination. Middle schools Students with mild developmental disabilities were divided into the experimental and control groups, respectively having 10 members. As a result, first, the Self-Determination Improvement Program effectively increased the self-determination level of middle school students with mild developmental disabilities. The measurements of self-determination before and after the application of the program were compared to find that the surveyed students' self-determination level were positively improved after participating in the program. Second, the Self-Determination Improvement Program effectively and positively changed the surveyed students' behaviors in relation to self-determination. In this researcher's interviews with parents before and after the program application, those parents responded that their children as middle school students with mild developmental disabilities showed positive behavioral changes in relation to self-determination while participating in the program. Thus, the Self-Determination Improvement Program was effective in positively changing those students' behaviors related to self-determination. In conclusion, the Self-Determination Improvement Program has positive effects on the self-determination level of middle school students with mild developmental disabilities.
