Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand what parents in the observation room experience while watching their child. Also, the study offers that explores the essential meaning of peeking in the observation room through parents’ experience. This study was conducted on three mothers with children who participated in counseling children, Giorgi’s qualitative research method. The results of the analysis showed that <lack of support base>, <state at the time of child’s maladjustment and visiting the child counseling center>, <miscarriage>, <self-defense and fear, Heartache>, <perception of self>, <Change in the communication of the new appearance of the child>, <Mom’s effort / Modeling / Let’s remember the one’s body> and <Being friendly with dad>. Components are presented as turning, enlightenment, growth and change. Through the results of the research, the meaning of mothers’ experiences in one side mirror is ‘a series of process that encourage the constant interactions of children and therapist’, and it is also a part that can be naturally linked to parent education through this process. Therefore, it is meaningful to grasp intrinsic meaning through mother’s experience, to provide understanding of parent education, reflection on counseling setting scene, and empirical evidence of counseling practice.
