대학생의 실행기능, BIS/BAS, 감각추구성향과 성행동의 관계

The relationships among executive functions, BIS/BAS, sensation seeking and college student’s sexual behaviors

초록

본 연구에서는 대학생 120명을 대상으로 실행기능, 성격특성과 성행동의 관계를 살펴보고, 성격특성의 영향을 통제하였을 때에도 실행기능이 성행동을 예측하는지를 검증하였다. 실행기능의 세 요소인 억제능력, 작업기억과 전환능력을 각각 스트룹과제, 숫자외우기 과제와 위스콘신카드분류과제로 측정하였다. 성격특성으로는 행동활성화 및 행동억제체계(BAS/BIS)와 감각추구성향을 측정하였다. 성행동은 자기보고식 질문지로 측정하였다. 그 결과, 실행기능, 성격특성과 성행동의 관계는 남학생에서만 나타났다. 남학생은 전환능력과 행동억제체계의 민감성이 낮을수록, 또 모험과 스릴을 많이 추구할수록 성행동을 많이 하였다. 위계적 회귀분석에서 행동억제체계의 민감성이나 모험과 스릴추구를 통제하였을 때에도 전환능력은 남학생의 성행동, 특히 성관계 파트너 수와 피임하지 않은 성관계 횟수 같은 위험 성행동을 잘 예측하였다.

Abstract

The present study examined the relationships among executive functions, BIS/BAS, sensation seeking and sexual behaviors in 120 college students and determined whether executive functions can predict sexual behaviors when the BIS/BAS or sensation seeking is controlled. Three components of executive functions-inhibitory control, working memory and shifting-were measured by the Stroop task, digit span task, and Wisconsin Cart Sorting Task, respectively. BIS/BAS and sensation seeking were also measured by BIS/BAS Scale and Sensation Seeking Scale. Students’ sexual behaviors were measured by self-report questionnaire. The relationships among executive functions, BIS, sensation seeking and sexual behaviors were observed primarily in male students. Male students with lower shifting ability and lower BIS displayed less sexual behaviors whereas male students with higher thrill seeking tendency displayed more sexual behaviors. In hierarchical regression analyses, even when the influence of BIS or thrill seeking tendency is controlled, male students’ shifting ability significantly predicted their sexual behaviors, especially risky sexual behaviors such as the number of sexual partners and the number of unprotected sexual intercourse.
