중등학교 통합교육 상황에서의장애학생 상담 실태 및 활성화 방안

본 연구는 중등학교 통합교육 상황에서의 장애학생 대상 상담 실태와 문제점 및 상담 활성화 방안을 조사해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경상남도 중·고등학교에 재직 중인 상담교사/상담사 121명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 주요 결과를 보면 모든 유형의 장애학생들에게 상담이 제공되고 있었으나 그 중 지적장애, 정서·행동장애, 학습장애 학생이 높은 비율을 차지하였고, 상담방법으로는 심리상담 외에도 미술치료, 행동수정, 놀이치료 등 다양한 방법이 적용되고 있었으며, 상담의 주제는 대인관계/사회성 기술 향상, 학교생활 적응력 향상, 문제행동 수정 등이 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 하지만 장애학생 상담의 전반적인 활성화 정도는 낮은 것으로 나타났으며, 일반학생에 비해 상담 서비스가 덜 제공되고 있었다. 상담교사/상담사들은 장애학생의 상담 담당은 상담교사/상담사보다는 특수교사라고 인식하는 비율이 훨씬 높았다. 장애학생 상담과 관련한 주된 문제점으로는 장애학생의 의사소통/인지능력 부족, 상담교사/상담사의 장애학생 특성에 대한 지식 및 이해 부족, 상담교사/상담사의 업무과다로 인한 장애학생 상담시간 부족 등으로 조사되었다. 상담교사/상담사들이 제안하는 장애학생 상담 활성화 방안으로는 상담교사/상담사의 장애학생 상담역량 강화, 상담교사/상담사의 업무과다 문제 해결, 상담교사/상담사의 장애학생 특성 이해 증대 등이 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 본 논문의 결과는 통합교육 현장에서의 장애학생 대상 상담서비스의 활성화 방안 마련을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate reality, problems, and improvement strategy in counseling for students with disabilities in inclusive settings of secondary schools. For the purpose, one hundred and twenty-one counseling teachers/counselors from secondary schools in Gyeongsangnam-Do participated in this study; a survey was used to collect data. The main results were as follows. First, students provided with counseling services in the higher rate were those who have intellectual disabilities, emotional and behavior disorders, and learning disabilities. The counseling method used were various including psychological counseling, art therapy, behavior therapy and play therapy. The counseling topics in the higher rate were improvement of social skills, improvement of school adaptation ability, and behavior modification for problem behaviors. Second, counseling for students with disabilities was little vitalized, and counseling services for them were less provided than regular students. Third, main problems of counseling for students with disabilities were the lack of communication or intelligence abilities of those students, the lack of counselor’s understanding and knowledge for students with disabilities, the lack of counseling time for the students due to counselor’s excessive work. Fourth, the improvement strategies in counseling for students with disabilities suggested mainly were strengthening of counselor’s counseling ability for students with disabilities, solution of counselor’s excessive work, and increase of counselor’s understanding and knowledge for students with disabilities. The results hopefully will be used as basic data to develop policies to improve counseling services for students with disabilities in inclusive settings.
