유아기 통합경험 유무에 따른 장애유아에 대한 일반유아의 친사회적 태도 비교 분석
Analysis of Pro-Social Attitudes of Young Children from Inclusive Programs and Non-Inclusive Programs toward Peers with Disabilities

본 연구는 통합유치원 교육 경험이 장애아에 대한 일반유아들의 친사회적 태도 형성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 대상은 체계적인 장애유아통합교육을 경험한 유아 40명과 통합교육을 경험하지 못한 유아 31명이었다. 유아들의 장애아에 대한 친사회적 태도를 조사하기 위해 친절 베풀기, 공감하기, 우정나누기의 3가지 범주에서 각 2가지씩 총 6가지 질문을 개발하여 구조화된 면담을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 두 집단의 유아들 모두 장애또래에게 상당히 친절한 태도를 가지는 경향성이 있었다. 그러나, 외현적으로 불결해 보이는 상황에서는 장애또래를 도우려는 의지가 통합집단의 유아들이 비통합 집단에 비해 높은 경향이 있었다. 둘째, 통합집단의 유아들이 장애또래의 감정상태에 대해 더 고려하는 경향이 포착되었으며, 장애와 상관없이 또래의 능력을 인정하려는 경향성이 비통합 집단 유아에 비해 높은 것으로 추정된다. 셋째, 통합집단의 유아들은 장애또래에 대해 도움을 주어야한다는 점을 부각시키는 경향이 강한 반면, 비통합 집단의 유아들은 상대의 이름이나 나이 등 일반적 사항들에 중점을 두는 방식으로 장애또래를 인식하는 경향이 있었다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 장애유아통합교육의 방향에 대해 다음과 같은 점을 제안할 수 있다. 첫째, 유아들이 학습한 이타적인 태도가 실제 행동으로 나타날 수 있도록 통합학급 등 자연스런 상황에서 일반유아와 장애유아간의 실질적 상호작용이 일어나도록 격려한다. 둘째, 장애유아의 독립성을 증진시키는 교육이 장애유아 뿐 아니라 일반유아에게도 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 비장애유아들은 장애유아의 개성이나 능력, 감정에 대해 공감하고 대등한 친구관계를 형성할 수 있도록 교육받아야 한다.
Abstract
The study investigated pro-social attitudes of young children toward peers with disabilities. Forty kindergartners from an inclusive program and three-one from a non-inclusive program were interviewed using six types of questions related to pro-social attitudes. The study found the followings: First, both groups of children tended to be likely to help a peer with disability who needs assistance. Second, young children from the inclusive program tended to more consider the feelings of the peer with disability and recognize his/her competence to learn academic tasks and tended to highly regard the peer with disability as a dependent person who needs assistance from others, compared with ones from non-inclusive programs.
