Abstract
In order to understand the mechanisms of writing process of Korean words, the students of first class of the primary school were recruited as subjects for the study. In experiment 1, the accuracy of writing one syllable Korean words were measured. As results, the words with single-vowel were significantly more accuracy than the words with double-vowel. In experiment 2, we could see the more accuracy of writing high frequency, concrete meaning words than low frequency, abstract meaning. Furthermore, the regular spoken words were written significantly more accurate than the irregular spoken words. In experiment 3, the accuracy of writing pure Koreans words and non-pure Korean words were measured. As general results, we could see more accurate writing of familiar and regular words, regardless of 2 or 3 syllable words. One of remarkable characteristics in case of writing is the paraphasia of consonants as well as vowels.
