근거 기반의 실제(Evidence-Based Practice)를 구축하기 위한 메타분석: 자폐 범주성 장애인의 사회성과 의사소통을 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 2001년부터 2006년 8월까지 특수교육 관련 국내의 연구 가운데 자폐 범주성 장애인을 대상으로 사회성과 의사소통 증진을 목표로 실행된 23편의 단일대상연구에 대한 종합적 분석을 실시하였다. 중재 범주 별 특성과 메타분석, 그리고 근거 기반의 실제로서 갖추어야 할 단일대상 연구의 질적 지표 요인별 분석을 하였다. 각 연구의 종속변인을 단위로 40개의 효과 크기를 산출한 후 종속변인, 독립변인, 연구의 요인(예, 연령, 회기 수)을 범주별로 나누어 평균의 차이를 분석하였다. 통계적으로 유의한 결과는 나오지 않았으나, 전체적으로 볼 때에 가장 큰 효과가 있었던 중재는 과학적 기반의 실제로 평가된 중재였다. 사회성 향상에 가장 큰 효과가 있었던 중재는 인지 중심의 중재인 것으로 나타났으며, 의사소통 향상에 있어서 비연속교수, PECS와 같은 기술 중심의 중재에 더 큰 효과가 있었다. 단일대상연구의 질을 높여 근거 기반의 실제를 구축하기 위해서는 반복연구가 가능하도록 연구 방법 및 절차에 대한 정확하고 자세한 기술이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구에 대한 제언이 제시되었다.

Abstract

This study synthesized the 23 single-subject design studies for improving socialization and language and communication skills of autistic spectrum disorders. Effect sizes were calculated by dependent variables of each study. The average effect sizes were compared by each categories of independent variables, dependent variables, or factors of studies(e.g. age of participants, number of sessions). Also the quality of single-subject design studies was evaluated using quality indicators in order to identify evidence-based practice. Major finding was that the categories of most effective intervention were Scientifically Based Practice in general, cognitive-related interventions for socialization, and skill-based interventions for communication. Limitations of this study and suggestions for further studies were described.
