Abstract
The purpose of this study is to verify the efficiency of the method of self-management to form the independence of students, to minimize the intervention of teacher-centered intervention on child with the high functioning autism who have high dependence and need teachers’ intervention by lack of independence. For this, subjects with the high functioning autism of age eleven years old whose social ages are seven years four months were selected in daily works on five time zones of attending time, break time, snack time, class time and wrap up time by strategy for self-management. After three investigation of baseline, and seven writing training for writing down Yes/No before use self-recording sheet were performed. After that, during arbitrating period, three times per week for independent behavior performance to reduce outside dependence gradually, prompt that suggested per every fourth time was limited eight, five, three time, and once to use plan for standard change on this study. Children should write down yes (+) of performing the task behaviors in the limited number of prompt, and no (-) of no performing, and let them to count down the number of stickers on the wall or watch the video which were taken to check correctly at self-recording sheet whenever prompts were given. To more motivate arbitration and increase the possibility of effect of positive response, self-reinforcement was taken. Result after study, the self-management method was effective to reduce the dependence for the outside instruction, and lead the independence performance of behaviors in daily time zones.
