ADHD아동의 상호 지식 활용능력: 언어적 공통기반을 중심으로

본 연구는 학령기 ADHD아동의 화용 언어 영역능력을 살펴보기 위하여 상호지식(common ground)중에서 언어 맥락을 이용한 언어적 공통기반(linguistic co- presence) 활용 능력을 알아보았다. 이를 위하여 1∼2학년 ADHD아동 15명과 생활 연령, 구문 및 의미 언어 능력을 일치시킨 일반아동 15명의 총 30명의 아동이 연구에 참여하였다. 실험 도구로서 언어적 공통기반 정보가 포함된 문단 과제 20개와 아동 반응을 위한 그림판 20개가 사용되었다. 모든 아동들은 실험자가 들려주는 문단을 듣고 난 후, 문단 내용에 관한 질문의 정답을 그림판에서 고르는 형식이었다. 아동들은 들려준 문단에서 이미 언급된 언어 정보를 활용하여 제시된 그림판의 5개 보기 중에서 정답이라고 생각되는 보기를 선택하였다. 실험 결과 ADHD아동은 문단에 언급된 정보를 활용하여 정답을 고르는데 있어 일반아동과 비교하여 유의미하게 저조한 수행을 보였다. 이를 통하여 ADHD아동은 비록 생활연령 및 언어능력이 또래 일반아동과 유사한 수준이라 할지라도 언어적 공통기반 활용능력에 있어 어려움을 가지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
In the present study we investigated ability to use common ground with linguistic co-presence of school-aged children with Attention Deficit hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD). The participants were 15 children with ADHD from 1st to 2rd grade of elementary school and 15 children with matching chronological age and language level. Twenty short vignettes with included linguistic co-presence information, four or five sentences of context were constructed. After the children listened to the vignettes, each accompanied by a set of four pictures of objects randomly placed with varying details and the card which “I don’t know”, they were asked to choose an object. The results showed that children with ADHD were significantly inferior to using the common ground based on linguistic co-presence than normal children. These results suggest that children with ADHD have pragmatic comprehension difficulty beyond their linguistic ability, relates context of elaboration and effectiveness.
