아동이 지각한 부모간 갈등이 학교부적응에 미치는 영향: 정서지능의 중재효과를 중심으로

초록

본 연구에서는 아동이 지각한 부모간의 갈등 및 정서지능이 학교부적응에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고, 아동이 지각한 부모간 갈등이 학교부적응에 미치는 영향에 대해 정서지능이 중재하는지를 검증한 후, 정서지능이 아동이 지각한 부모간의 갈등으로 인한 학교부적응 행동에 치료적 요인으로 적용될 가능성을 경험적으로 확인하고자 하였다. 초등학교 4학년에서 6학년 아동 533명을 대상으로 아동이 지각한 부모간의 갈등, 정서지능 및 학교부적응 척도를 사용하여 설문조사를 실시하였고, 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 수집된 자료를 처리하였다. 분석결과, 아동이 지각한 부모간의 갈등은 학교부적응과 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였으며, 정서지능과 학교부적응, 아동이 지각한 부모간의 갈등과 정서지능은 각각 유의한 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 즉 지각된 부모간의 갈등과 정서지능은 학교부적응에 영향을 미치는 유의미한 예측변인인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 특히 정서지능은 아동이 지각한 부모간의 갈등과 상호작용하여 학교부적응을 완화시키는 중재변인으로 작용하고 있었다. 이러한 결과는 아동이 지각한 부모간의 갈등이 학교부적응에 영향을 미치는 것은 사실이나 지각된 부모간의 갈등이 높다고 해서 반드시 학교부적응을 더 경험하는 것은 아니며, 아동의 정서지능의 수준에 따라 그 영향력이 감소될 수 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 이를 토대로 본 연구의 결과가 정서지능의 향상에 중점을 둔 개입의 상담 및 심리치료에 시사하는 바를 임상적 관점에서 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderating effect of emotional intelligence in the influence of perceived inter-parental conflict on children’s school maladjustment. 533 children of 4th to 6th grade in 3 elementary schools participated in thes study. Data were collected with the structured questionnaire of CPIC, emotional intelligence and school maladjustment. Hierarchical regression analysis was performed to analyze the data. Results of this study were as follows. First, perceived inter-parental conflict had a significantly negative effect on emotional intelligence. And, perceived inter-parental conflict had a significantly positive effect on school maladjustment. Emotional intelligence had a significantly negative effect on school maladjustment. Second, emotional intelligence seems to serve as a mediation variable which has a positive effect between perceived inter-parental conflict and school maladjustment. That is mean, emotional intelligence moderated the effect between perceived inter-parental conflict and school maladjustment. Results of this study were discussed in relation to previous studies and counseling intervention to improve emotional intelligence was suggested for elementary school counseling practice.
