Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderated mediating effect of peer play disruption behaviors by playfulness in the longitudinal relationship among of marital conflict and children's externalizing problem behaviors. In the present study, 6-year longitudinal data being collected by PSKC (Panel Study on Korean Children) since 2009 were used and the data from were analyzed using SPSS Macro (PROCESS; Hayes, 2012). This is results of the study First, the main effect of marital conflict was significant in the relationship between marital conflict and children's externalizing problem behaviors, and it was not moderated by the level of playfulness. Second, it has been found that the relationship between marital conflict and children's externalizing problem behaviors is mediated by peer play disruption behaviors. Third, the mediating effect of peer play disruption behaviors in the relationship between marital conflict and children's externalizing problem behaviors had a meaningful moderated mediating effect depending on the level of playfulness. Based on these findings, this study provides useful data for specific interventions in peer play disruption behaviors and externalizing problem behaviors, it suggests that the development of playfulness is a protective factor for children's ability to grow and change.
