본 논문은 신약 성경 편지들에 사용된 모방되어야 할 모델들의 예들을 분석 함으로서 현대의 설교자들이 설교 중에 설득과 가르침을 위해 어떠한 모델 들을 어떠한 방식으로 사용해야 할지를 제안한다. 신약 성경 편지들 전반에 등장하는 모델들의 사용법과 사용의 문맥을 살펴보는 것은 성경 편지들의 내용을 구성하는 비-문자적 요소를 이룬다는 점에서 가치가 있다. 이와 더 불어, 모델의 개별적 사용의 이면에 전제되어 있는 사용의 원리를 파악하는 것은 당시의 기독교 정체성 형성에 있어서 핵심이 무엇인지를 보여주는 중 요한근거가될수있다. 이러한측면에서, 신약성경저자들이사용한모델 들은 기독교 정체성의 형성의 아이콘이라 말할 수 있다. 이를 위해, 필자는 훈계적 문맥에서 정확히 모방되어야 할 모델들이 제시 된 11개의 본문들(롬 15:1-9; 고전 10:23-11:1; 빌 2:1-8; 3:17; 골 3:12-13; 살전 1:6; 살후 3:6-9; 약 5:7-11; 벧전 2:18-24; 요일 3:10-12, 15-16)을 선별해 분석 한다. 분석의 결과와 설교를 위한 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 신약 성경 편지 저자들은 여러 위협중에 기독교인의 정체성 확립을 위해 기독교적 모델들(예. 예수, 바울)을 사용했다. 구약의 예들이 사용될 경우, 이를 기독교적 관점에서 해석했다. 이는 오늘의 설교자들에게 설교에서 특별히 기독교에 속한 모델들을 사용할 것을요구한다. 둘째, 저자들은 기독교인들의 현재의 삶에 당면한 현실을 해결하기 위해 모델들의 특정한 부분들을 부각시켜 모델을 사용하였다. 이는 오늘의 설교자 들에게 모델을 사용함에 있어 한 인물의 전기적 진술보다는 성도들이 현재 당면하고 있는 문제와 관련하여 특정한 요소를 찾아 낼 것을 요구한다. 셋째, 저자들은 수신자들로 하여금 기독교 신앙의 정수(예. 하나님의 영광) 에 따라 살아가게 하기 위하여 모델들을 사용하였다. 이는 오늘의 설교자들 이 무엇보다 기독교 신앙의 정수를 온전히 파악하고, 기독교 신앙 정수 하에 서 성도들의 신앙을 돕기 위해 가장 적절한 모델들을 제시할 것을 요구한다.
Abstract
In this article I suggest how and what kinds of model today’s preachers ought to use in their sermons, by analysing exhortative models employed in NT letters. Looking at both usage of models in NT letters and their contexts of the use is valuable because they consist of non-verbal factors of messages of NT letters. Besides this, understanding some principles of use of models will provide some foundations of forming of identity of early Christians. In this sense, exhortative models in NT letters can be called as the icon of identity of Christians. In order to achieve this purpose, I will analyse eleven texts from NT letters, which contain models to be imitated, i.e. Rom 15:1-9; 1 Cor 10:23-11:1; Phil 2:1-8; 3:17; Col 3:12-13; 1 Thess 1:6; 2 Thess 3:6-9; Jas 5:7-11; 1 Pet 2:18-24; 1 John 3:10-12, 15-16. Along with results of analysis I will make the following three suggestions for today’s preachers who want to use the model:First, NT letter writers employed Christian models to be imitated, such as Jesus and Paul, in order to form/confirm the identity of Christians in harsh situations due to their faith. When they used models from the OT, they reinterpreted them from the Christian perspective. This ask today’s preachers to focus primarily on Christian models and, if they cannot, carefully interpret their non-Christian models from Christian view. Secondly, NT letter writers employed models, whose specific part/aspect was emphasised, in order to resolve the pending questions of their believers. They did not try to write a biography of person. Their interest was not in the life of an employed model, but in a situation of their believers who needed exhortation. This suggests today’s preachers not only to accurately grasp situations of the believers, but also to do best to find out proper models to contribute to resolve their pending questions. Finally, NT letter writers provided models in order that they let their believers live according to the essentials of Christian faith (e.g. to glorify God). This implies that today’s preachers should be firstly masters of the essentials of Christian faith, and provide the most proper model that can help the believers.
