세계 자동차산업 기술혁신과 한국의 대응에 관한 연구

초록

19세기 말 유럽에서 시작된 자동차산업 중심 국가/지역이 유럽, 미국, 동북아국가, 일본, 한국으로 西進(west bound move) 하는 현상이 일어나고 있다. 세계 자동차산업 중심 국가/지역 변화의 원인은 무엇인지 또 세계 자동차산업 중심국가/지역이 어디로 변화하고 있는 지에 대한 연구 질문을 가지게 된다. 이 논문은 세계 자동차산업 기술 진화와 발전에 기존연구들을 종합하여 향후 세계 자동차산업 발전을 가설적으로 정리하고 이를 토대로 일본 자동차산업의 계속적인 발전 그리고 중국의 도전에 대한 한국 자동차 산업의 장기적 발전 방안을 거시적 안목에서 찾아보려는 시도이다.

Abstract

Since 1970s, Korea has progressed so rapidly to become 6th. auto making country, producing 3.5 million vehicles in 2004. This article reviews the technological development of automobile industry in consideration of industrial transformation since 1900. This article suggests hypothetical model on product architecture, process architecture, supply chain architecture and distribution system of world automobile to test “West Bound Move hypothesis”. In addition, this article suggests to Korean auto industry as well as auto makers, the dual strategy, catch up and pioneering strategy, to survive in 21 century to meet challenges from other countries particularly from Japan and China.
