荀子와 韓非子사상의 스포츠철학적 함의

초록

荀子와 韓非子는 예치(禮治)와 법치(法治)로써 사회질서를 유지하려 하였다. 荀子의 예치는 인의(仁義)를 교육하는 것, 즉 화성기위(化性起僞)로 인간의 惡한 본성을 교화시키는 것이었고, 韓非子의 법치는 惡한 인간본성은 교육보다 강력한 法으로 다스리는 것이 사회질서를 유지하는데 합당하다고 보았다. 荀子는 인간의 자율성을 인정한 반면, 한비자는 법(규제)의 다스림, 즉 타율성에 사상적 근거를 두고 있다. 이 연구는 荀子와 韓非子의 이러한 논리가 스포츠철학 연구에 시사하는 점이 있다는 전제하에서 이를 기반으로 현대스포츠의 난제들을 치유하는 방안을 탐색하였다. 현대스포츠의 거대 자본주의식 경영으로부터 파생되는 무절제한 자유, 이익의 불법적인 공유를 지향하는 스포츠계의 부도덕화에 대한 치유를 위해 荀子와 韓非子가 역설한 예치교육과 법치교육에 근거하여 현실적이며 실질적인 대안을 모색하였다.

Abstract

Xunzi (荀子) and Hanfeitzi (韓非子) aimed to maintain social order through the rule of propriety (禮治) and the rule of law (法治). Xunzi’s rule of propriety aimed to teach benevolence and justice (仁義), that is, to reform the evil (惡) nature of humans using transformation through intentional effort (化性起僞). Hanfeitzi’s rule of law viewed governing through strict laws to be more suited to maintaining social order than educating against the inherently evil nature of humans. While Xunzi acknowledged the spontaneity of humans, the basis of Hanfeitzi’s thought was in governing by law (regulation), or governing by external force. This study examined ways to resolve difficult issues faced in modern sports based on the premise that the ancient philosophical thoughts of Xunzi and Henfeitzi have implications for today's sports philosophy research. Realistic and practical alternatives based on the rule of propriety and the rule of law taught by the two Chinese philosophers were sought to solve the issues of unfettered freedom due to extensive capitalism and the greedy sports scene that aims to gain profits at the expense of moral conduct.
