플로티노스 철학에 나타난 ‘신체’와 영혼의 ‘관조’ 개념 -스포츠 철학의 근원적 의미에 집중하여-

본 연구는 플로티노스의 철학에 나타난 영혼과 신체의 의미를 ‘관조’ 개념과의 연관성 하에서 규명함으로써, 플로티노스의 철학이 현대 스포츠 철학에 크게 기여할 수 있는 가능성을 모색하는 데 그 궁극적인 목적이 있다. 플로티노스 철학에서 일자는 삼라만상의 근원이다. 일자로부터 물질로의 하강운동이 ‘발출’이다. 일자로부터 정신, 영혼, 자연 그리고 물질 개념이 따라 나온다. 그런데 존재자에서 일자로의 상승운동은 ‘회귀’이다. 이 회귀는 존재하는 모든 것에서 이루어진다. 인간 신체는 영혼의 관조에 의해서 가깝게는 지성으로, 궁극적으로는 일자와 하나가 된다. 이러한 관조 활동을 통해서 인간은 본래적인 인간, 완전한 인간으로 자리 매김한다. 이처럼 플로티노스에게 있어 관조는 신체의 의미를 신체의 근원인 영혼, 나아가 지성 내지는 일자에 근거해서 파악할 것을 요구하는데, 이는 오늘날 신체적 경쟁 중심의 스포츠 계에 신선한 자극제가 되기에 충분하다. 인간신체를 우주적 근원인 일자의 유출로 이해하는 플로티노스의 관점은 지나친 경쟁으로 인해 상실되고 있는 인간 중심의 가치를 다시 한번 되새기게 함으로써 스포츠가 나아가야 할 방향을 제시해줄 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the Concept of the Body and the Theoria of Soul in the Philosophy of Plotinus. And finally this study searched for the possibility that the Philosophy of Plotinus contribute to the development of the philosophy of sports in the present day. As everybody knows, 'The One' of Plotinus is the principle of all things. All things come from The One. Concretely, Nous, Soul, Physis, and Matter come from The One. It is 'Proodos'(emanation) of The One. In the opposite way, an upward way to The One from the all things is 'Epistophe'(return) of The One. All things return to The One. So Human body return to the soul too. Especially, human body return to The One by the 'Contemplation' of the soul. That is, human being become a complete human being by the contemplation of the soul. In conclusion, human body becomes complete being by the contemplation of the soul. In this point, the theory of body and soul in Plotinus can serve as a basic theory of sports, especially the theory of oriental martial arts that has many common views and methods of human body. And it provides certain solution of moral and ethical issues confronting sport in contemporary society.
