Abstract

This study examines whether today’s college entrance examination system, which focuses on talent selection and practical skills, is a consistent change when compared to the educational philosophy of the Taekwondo Department, whether the selection process and evaluation criteria are reasonable, and whether the selection process and evaluation criteria are reasonable, and the entrance exam that appears in the selection and admission process. We examine from an ethical perspective whether there are any problems with the system, and furthermore, how changes in the university entrance examination system are having a positive or negative impact on the Taekwondo game. We also identify the structural limitations of the entrance examination system provided by each university to determine the university entrance examination for the Department of Taekwondo. The purpose is to suggest the need for system reform. Accordingly, the researcher presents the following suggestions to improve the college entrance examination system. First, it is necessary to establish a separate deliberation organization that can manage/ operate when the entrance examination for students with special athletic ability or performance is reflected. In other words, in addition to the process by which universities judge and evaluate performance, they are adding a device that requires this to be notarized in advance. And in that process, since it is necessary to ‘publicly prove any factual or legal relationship,’ we reconfirm that there was no illegal activity in the game. Second, the Taekwondo department curriculum should be reorganized as well as the overall university culture should be expanded. Unless the purpose of establishing a Taekwondo department in a university is to focus on ‘cultivating athletes,’ the program should be expanded to a broader curriculum rather than being preoccupied with competition participation and game results. Clearly, it should not be overlooked that the purpose of establishment and educational goals of the Department of Taekwondo are ‘cultivating international professional leaders with both civil and martial arts skills’ and ‘academic research and establishment.’ Lastly, the attitude of the university (Taekwondo Department) is most important so as not to lose the essential value of ‘Taekwondo Studies’ by becoming absorbed in the splendor of ‘Taekwondo’.
