『주역』은 수양을 위한 효과적인 도구이다. 지금까지의 역학사가 해석의 객관성과 정통성을 다투는 데 치중해왔다면, 이 논문은『주역』에 대한 강조의 시선을 독자의 내면으로 되돌려 놓는 데 그 목적이 있다. 역경은 독자에게 허락된 의미의 공간이 그 어느 텍스트보다 큰 경전이다. 그러나 이 독자적(讀者的) 의미의 공간은 보편적 진리의 개인적 현현을 위한 공간이다.『주역』은 높은 수준의 인격적 지평, 나아가 존재론적 초월의 경지를 요구함으로써 ‘보편적인 진리’를 독자 스스로 성취하도록(또는 그 질서에 참여하도록) 안내한다.『주역』이 요구하는 인격적 지평은 역전에 나타난 해석방법을 통해 엿볼 수 있는데,『주역』의 해석방법을 관통하는 원리는 바로 ‘소통’이다. 진정한 소통은 ‘시·공간적 자기 연장의 폭력적 욕망을 온전히 소멸함(虛心)’으로써 가능한데, 이것이 바로『주역』의 인격 지향이자 동양제가(諸家) 공통의 과제이다.
Abstract
Juyeok(周易) is an effective tool for self-cultivation. If the history of interpretation of Juyeok has been focused on contesting the objectivity and the mastery of the interpretations up until now, the purpose of this paper is to put the focus back to the reader’s inside. Yeokgyeong(易經) is a scripture providing the reader a room for interpretation that is bigger than any other texts does. However, the room for interpretation by the reader is for a personal manifestation of the truth. Juyeok guides the reader themselves to accomplish ‘the universal truth’ or (to participate in the order thereof) by requiring the reader a high level of personal prospect as well as ontological transcendence. The character prospect required by Juyeok can be found in the way of interpretation described in Yeokjeon(易傳). The principle that penetrates the interpretation is communication. To accomplish true communication, the abusive desire for extending the self in space and time should be completely disappeared(freedom from avarice, 虛心). This is what the character should arrive that is required by Juyeok and also the common tasks of the Chinese schools.
