교리의 본질에 대한 하나님 중심적 재고 -현대의 세 연구 사례와 칼빈의 ‘독트리나’ 개념을 중심으로-

이 논문에서는 교리의 본질에 대해 몇 몇 연구 사례들을 살펴보며 교리의 기원과, 기능과 본질에 대해 숙고해 보고자 한다. 교리의 본질 연구에 있어서 한 획을 그은 조지 린드벡의 규범 이론(rule theory)을 살펴보며 교리의 사회학적 기능을 이해하고, 이어서 맥그래스의 교리의 기원에 관한 역사적 이해를 살펴보며, 기독교 교리의 지시적(referential) 성격을 좀 더 강조하고자 한다. 더 나아가 교리의 드라마적 성격을 강조한 케빈 반후저의 정경-언어적 접근의 강점과 통찰력들을 되새겨 볼 것이다. 그러나 이러한 논의들이 가져다주는 통찰력들을 넘어 본 논문을 통해 참으로 강조하고자 하는 논지는 칼빈의 “독트리나(doctrina)” 개념이 지니는 신본주의적 역동성이다. 칼빈의 독트리나 개념의 다양한 특성을 살핌으로써, 살아 계신 거룩하신 하나님의 가르침(theodidactos)으로서의 교리의 하나님 중심적 기원이 교리의 참 본질을 이룬다는 것을 보이고자 한다. 본 연구의 의도는 교리의 권위에 대하여, 전통 유지를 위해 강제화 된 인본주의적 성격의 권위가 아니라 교리의 영적이고 천상적이고 거룩한 성격으로 말미암아 자체-발생적으로 세워지는 권위에 대해 환기 시키고자 함이다. 한 걸음 더 나아가 하나님께서 목회적 목적을 위하여 세우신 교회의 네 직분도 교리를 통해 성도들을 가르치고 훈육하기 위함이기에 바른 교리 신학은 목회적인 지향성을 가진다고 강조하려 한다.
Abstract
This study concerns with the function, origin and nature of doctrine with special reference to Lindbeck, McGrath, Vanhoozer and Calvin. With Geroge Lindbeck's rule theory, this paper highlights the social function of doctrine. With McGrath, the historical origin of doctrine is stressed. For the social function of doctrine is possible only on the basis of the referential nature of doctrine. Further with Vanhoozer, who emphasizes the dramatic nature of doctrine, this paper presents some insights and strengths of the canonical-linguistic approach. Above all, delving into Calvin’s concept of doctrina, this paper seeks to manifest the God-centered, spiritual and heavenly nature of Christian doctrine. In Calvin, doctrina as the teaching of the living God(theodidactos) is very dynamically and diversely presented and always has a pastoral focus.
