본문은 현대사회 속의 신학적 도전으로 제기되고 있는 다원주의의 문제를 다루고 있다. 오늘날과 같이 열린 다양한 주장과 갈등이 표출되는 광장 속에 길을 모색해 나가야 하는 교회의 입장에서 자주 들을 수밖에 없는 말이 다원주의 혹은 다원성의 개념이다. 본문은 이러한 다원성의 인식에 있어서, 그 기원이 서구 시민사회의 전개 속에 자연스럽게 나타난 현상이며, 냉전 이후 시민사회의 대두 속에 자연스럽게 체질화의 경로를 걸어 온 개념이라는 분석과 함께 시작하고 있다. 그러한 면에서 다원주의는 다원성 혹은 다양성이라는 개념과 더불어 함께 쓰이는 특성을 가지고 있다. 본문은 또한 다원주의 담론에 대한 서구 신학자들의 주장과 설명을 소개하고 있으며, 공공신학적 관점에서 다원주의의 문제를 다루고 이에 대한 기독교 신학적 담론을 형성했던 후버 학파의 입장을 통해 살펴 나가고 있다. 본문은 후버가 전개한 소통의 다원주의, 벨커가 전개한 영의 다원주의, 두 인물의 계승자로서 베드포드-슈트롬이 전개한 의의 다원주의에 대해 소개하면서 다원성의 개념이 기독교 신학에 두려움의 대상이 아닌, 기독교 신학 내에 이미 내포된 개념으로 받아들일 수 있는 내용을 형성하고 있음을 보여주고 있다. 또한 기독교가 자신의 중심가치를 통해 다원화된 사회에 길잡이 역할을 수행함으로써 난삽한 형태의 다원성이 아닌, 사회에 기여하는 다원성의 개념을 지향할 수 있음을 주장하고 있다.
Abstract
The following text deals with the concept of pluralism, which has emerged as a theological challenge in contemporary society. The concept of pluralism or pluralism is often heard from the perspective of the church, which must seek a way in the square where various and conflicting ideas are expressed as they are today. The text begins with the analysis that it is a phenomenon that naturally appeared in the development of Western civil society and its concept was naturally accepted in the rise of civil society after the Cold War. This study also introduces Western theologians' arguments and explanations regarding the pluralism. This text explains ‘the pluralism of communication’ of W. Huber, a representative theologian in German Public theology, ‘the pluralism of spirit’ of M. Welker, and ‘the pluralism of Justice’ of Bedford-Strom, the successor of these two theologians. In conclusion, this text argues that Christianity can contribute to society without fear of pluralism by playing a role as a guide to a diversified society through its own value system
