이 연구의 목적은 2010년대 현재 재일동포 청년들의 한국어에 대한 언어 의식과 일상생활에서 작동하는 한국어의 사회적 기능을 자기 고백 인터뷰를 통해 논의하는 데 있다. 1980년대 이후 출생자 22명을 대상으로 이루어진 이번 인터뷰에서 재일동포 청년들은 일본어를 가족 및 사회 내 일상어로 사용하며 한국어는 가족 외의 영역에서 학습하는 언어로 인식하고 있었다. 그리고 한국어 대신 한국 음식이나 제사와 같은 문화 콘텐츠로 한국적 정체성에 대한 표지를 대체하는 경향이 나타났다. 이 청년들은 가족과 내집단이 한국의 미디어와 한국 사람들과의 직접 접촉, 한국 유학을 통해 한국어를 학습할 기회가 있으며 선호도, 가치관, 필요성 등 자신들의 실리적인 요구에 의해 형성된 학습 동기로 한국어를 학습하고 있었다. 재일동포 청년들은 한국어를 일본에 정착한 한국 동포로서의 자신의 정체성 형성과 더 나은 삶을 위해 도움이 되는 언어의 역할을 수행한다고 인식하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to examine the Korean language awareness of young Korean residents in Japan in the 2010s through self-confession interview. And it is in discussing their perception of the Korean language and the social function of the Korean language, which works in the daily lives of young Korean residents living in Japan. In 2016, a qualitative research interview conducted 22 Koreans born in Japan since the 1980s. In this study, we attempted an ethnographic interpretation of the language behavior of Korean residents in Japan. As a result, young Korean residents used the Japanese language in their daily life and Korean used in a restricted domain. They recognized that the Korean inherited in the family. However, They were learning Korean in the public domain and outside groups. They can learn Korean directly from Korea if they motivated. Therefore, Korean language use by Koreans in Japan is likely to continue. Even though they did not speak Korean in their family, they did cultural acts that showed their Korean identity. Korean words such as the name of the food and ancestral rites used. This is what the ethnolinguistics calls "the replacement of language with other cultural content.".However, young Korean residents, who need direct communication with Koreans, chose to learn Korean for practical reasons such as preferences, values, and needs. They wanted to learn and continue learning Korean based on their ethnic identity, better jobs, and cultural needs. This means that Korean language education for Korean residents in Japan should more be diversified to meet the needs of learners.
