An Analysis of Citizens' Awareness for Sustainable Urban Regeneration: Focused on Cheonan City

This study aims to analyze citizen awareness and satisfaction with Cheonan City's urban regeneration projects and suggest directions for future policy improvement and sustainable development. Since 2014, Cheonan City has actively pursued urban regeneration projects to address issues such as deteriorating residential environments, declining commercial districts, and the outflow of young populations. To achieve this, a survey was conducted among Cheonan citizens, and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) and Partial Least Squares PLS regression analysis were applied to identify key factors influencing satisfaction. The analysis results indicate that while awareness of urban regeneration projects in Cheonan City is high, overall satisfaction remains relatively low. Additionally, participatory urban regeneration planning, administrative support, and the role of the Urban Regeneration Support Center were found to be the most influential factors in citizen satisfaction. Therefore, for successful urban regeneration, it is essential to expand citizen participation, strengthen public-private cooperation, ensure the continuous operation of the Urban Regeneration Support Center, and establish a sustainable collaboration system. This study provides empirical evidence to enhance the effectiveness of Cheonan City's urban regeneration policies and highlights the need for ongoing citizen awareness assessments and policy coordination.
