이 논문은 고봉 기대승과 율곡 이이의 경세론을 비교하는 데 있다. 두 사람은 약 10년의 나이 차이이나 같은 시대 조정에서 활약한 사람이고, 철학사상에서는 상호 공감대가 있었던 사람이다. 또 경세론에서도 조선 초기 정암 조광조의 道學的 경세사상을 다함께 지지한 공통점이 있다. 그러나 시대인식이나 인물 평가에서는 서로 의견을 달리하였다는 점에서 두 사람의 비교는 의의가 있다. 고봉의 경세론은 조선 초기 도학사상을 계승한 ‘도학적 경세론’의 한 전형이라면, 율곡의 그것은 체계성, 광범위성, 적극성에 있어서 고봉 보다 진전된 ‘개혁적 경세론’이라 할 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to compare governing theories in Gobong Gi Daeseong and Yulgok Yi Yi. ㅆhe age gap between them is 10 years, but they were contemporary people who were active in the Royal Court and reached a consensus on the philosophy. In the governing theories, each of them supported Neo-Confucianistic theories of administration of Jeongam Jo Gwangjo in early Joseon Dynasty. However, since they disagree on recognition of the age or character evaluations, comparison between them have a signification. If governing theories of Gobong is a model of ‘Neo-Confucianistic theories of administration’ which succeeds to Neo-Confucianistic theories of administration in the early Joseon Dynasty, it of Yulgok is more advanced ‘reformative governing theories’ than Gobong on the systemicity, an extensive feature, and the positivity.
