학습자를 위한 영어 성경 코퍼스 기반 어휘목록 개발

본 연구는 영어 성경 코퍼스를 기반으로 학습자를 위한 어휘목록을 개발하는 것이다. 이 목표를 달성하기 위해 본 연구는 구약 성경 코퍼스, 신약 성경 코퍼스, 그리고 구약과 신약을 통합한 코퍼스를 각각구축하였다. 구약 성경 코퍼스는 약 57만 어절로 구성되어 있고, 신약 성경 코퍼스는 약 19만 어절로 구성되어 있다. 구약 성경 코퍼스, 신약 성경 코퍼스, 그리고 구약과 신약을 통합한 코퍼스에서 어휘목록을 추출하기 위해 Anthony(2014)가 개발한 AntWordProfiler 1.4.0 프로그램을활용하였다. 그리고 어휘목록 추출의 판단기준으로 널리 활용되고있는 사용빈도와 사용범주를 사용하여 총 400 어휘군(word families)의어휘목록을 개발하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과를 구체적으로 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째로 구약 성경 코퍼스와 신약 성경 코퍼스의 어휘목록 사이에 약간의 유사점과 차이점이 발견되었지만 학습의 효율성 측면을 고려했을 때 구약과 신약을 통합한 코퍼스의 개발 필요성이 있었다. 둘째로 구약과 신약을 통합한 코퍼스의 어휘목록과 AWL 사이의비교는 실질적인 자료의 부족으로 적절하지 않았다. 셋째로 어휘목록에 대한 학습은 기존의 학습순서와 관계없이 전체 어휘목록에대한 충분한 사전학습이 최적의 방법인 것으로 논의되었다.
Abstract
This study aims to develop word lists based on the New Living Translation Bible(NLT) forlanguage learners. To achieve this goal, the Old Testament Corpus(OTC), the NewTestament Corpus(NTC), and the NLT Bible Corpus(NLTBC) were compiled. OTC includesaround 570,000 running words and NTC consists of about 190,000 running wordsrespectively. AntWordProfiler 1.4.0 developed by Anthony(2014) was utilized to extractword lists from OTC, NTC, and NLTBC. And this study developed the NLT Bible WordLists(NLTBWL) comprising a total of 400 word families based on two criteria such as frequencyand range. The findings demonstrate that 1) there are some similarities and differencesbetween word lists of OTC and those of NTC, and the necessity of NLTBC is required interms of the learning effectiveness; 2) the comparison between word lists of NLTBC and AWLis not appropriate due to the lack of authentic data; 3) the optimal learning method is to fullystudy NLTBWL in advance without learning sequences.
