Abstract

This study analyzes research trends in 400 humanities and education related articles published in Korean academic journals from 1990 to April 2024, using Network Text Analysis (NTA). The methodology includes a temporal trend analysis, centrality measures (Degree, Betweenness, PageRank), cluster analysis (Clauset-Newman-Moore algorithm), and frequency analysis of purpose-related ("Why") and method-related ("How") keywords. Results show a sharp increase in publication volume after 2010, with research themes shifting from traditional subject content (early period) to liberal arts and human development (middle period), and to digital transformation, citizenship, and ethics (recent period). The network structure is centered on specific hub keywords, but connections between studies exploring the intrinsic educational value of the humanities and those focusing on practical applications remain relatively weak. Cluster analysis identified major domains such as "Traditional Humanities Education," "Liberal Arts and Core Competency Development," and "Digital Era Citizenship/Ethics Education." This study highlights the need for interdisciplinary integration in humanities education, deeper reflection on educational values, and policy-level implications.
