노인자살예방실천을 위한 사회복지교육의 과제 : 사회복지사의 경험을 토대로

초록

최근 사회복지 실천현장의 주된 관심 분야 중의 하나는 위기노인 개입에 관한 것이다. 특히 노인의 자살률이 급격히 증가하며 공공의 사회문제로 부상하면서 노인자살에 대한 사회복지적 대처와 개입의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 자살예방을 비롯한 위기노인 개입을 수행하는 사회복지 실천가에게 필요한 사회복지 교육과 훈련은 무엇인지 살펴보는 것이다. 노인자살예방 서비스를 제공하고 있는 아홉 명의 사회복지사와의 심층면담 및 참여관찰을 통해 얻은 자료를 질적 내용분석 방법을 통해 분석하였다. 사전코딩지침에 따라 사회복지사가 생각하는 노인자살예방, 노인자살예방사업과 사회복지사의 역할, 역할 수행을 위해 필요한 사회복지사의 자질, 그리고 이들이 겪고 있는 실무자의 어려움에 초점을 맞추어 분석 결과를 기술하였다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 자살 고위험군 노인을 비롯하여 위기노인에 대한 개입을 하는 사회복지사에게 필요한 교육과 훈련은 무엇인지에 초점을 맞추어 제언한다.

Abstract

There has been recently growing attention on intervention for older adults at risk in the social work field. As suicide among the elderly becomes social problems, the need for social work intervention has been addressed. The purpose of this study is to discuss what contents of social work education and training are to develop for social workers who work with older adults at risk including suicidal elderly. Participant observation and interviews with nine social workers working at the elderly suicide prevention program were analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Only results to the following themes were discussed in this paper: social workers' perception on elderly suicide prevention, their role in this practice and the required attributes for what they do, and the difficulties they experienced. The findings unveiled how social workers experienced working at the elderly suicide prevention program. Implications for social work education and training are highlighted.
