이 논문은 현재 동아시아를 단위로 진행되고 있는 협력사업들의 최근 현황을 개략적으로 살펴보고 그 문제점이 무엇인지를 진단해 보며 이를 토대로 한국이 앞으로 어떤 전략으로 임할 것인가를 분석한다. 논문은 일단 동아시아 지역에서 전개 되고 있는 다양한 차원과 유형의 지역협력을 협력 사업의 핵심적인 장이 되고 있 는 ASEAN+3의 조직과 사업현황을 중심으로 분석해 본다. 그리고 나서 이런 동아시아 협력사업들이 직면하고 있는 문제가 무엇인지를 살펴본다. 그리고 그동 안 동아시아 지역협력 사업들에서 한국이 어떠한 역할을 하여왔고 앞으로 어떠한 전략을 가지고 임해야 할 것인가를 분석한다.
Abstract
The main purposes of this essay is to trace the recent progresses in East Asian cooperation, to discern the main problems underlying it and to look for strategic reasoning for Korea in effectively contributing to the development of East Asian regionalism. The key work to undertake is to systematically sketch the recent developments in the businesses of regional cooperations in East Asia at the various levels highlighting the ASEAN+3’s organizational pattern and actual cooperative businesses. Then, I try to uncover the major problems underlying such cooperative works over the past 12 years. Then, I attempt to figure out what were the roles played by Korea during the period and what should be the core strategy for the future to promote regional cooperation and to enhance regional prosperity.
