중증 지적장애인 자기결정 과정의 다양성 : 주요돌봄자와의 상호작용 유형을 중심으로

본 연구는 중증 지적장애인의 자기결정 과정에서 주요돌봄자와의 상호작용을 분석하여 중증 지적장애인의 자기결정을 위한 다양한 실천적 함의를 이끌어내는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서는 질적 사례연구방법을 사용하여 총 5사례를 분석하였다. 자료를 분석한 결과 [사례1]과 [사례2]의 경우 상황에 따라 다른 상호작용을 하는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 두 사례 모두 주로 C유형(상담가 유형)의 상호작용을 하지만, 특별한 경우 D유형(친구 유형)의 상호작용을 하는 것으로 나타났다. [사례3]의 경우는 주로 C유형을, [사례4]의 경우 주로 A유형(보호자 유형)의 상호작용을 보였다. [사례5]의 경우 A유형의 상호작용에서 C혹은 D유형의 상호작용으로 바꾸어 나아가는 단계임을 볼 수 있었다. A유형(보호자 유형)의 상호작용은 응급상황에 도움이 될 수 있으나 자기결정 관점에서는 최대한 지양되어야 할 상호작용이며, C유형(상담가 유형) 혹은 D유형(친구 유형)의 상호작용이 지향되어야 한다고 평가하였다. 그러나 현실적으로 C, D유형의 상호작용에는 많은 시도와 노력이 필요하며, 사회·구조적인 다양한 지원이 바탕이 되어야 한다.
Abstract
This study’s focus is on the diversity of the self-determination process of the severely intellectually disabled. The research question of this study examines what are the types of interactions between caregivers and the people with severe intellectual disabilities in daily life and the characteristics of those types. The purpose of this study is to find better interactions for self-determination of the intellectually disabled and also draw some policy and practical implications. This study is a qualitative case study which analyzes multiple cases by using the dual analytical units(a total of five cases). The results of the research question were as follows. It was found that not only were there interactions of type C(counsellor type) but also in type D(friend type), which is found in special cases. Findings showed interactions in only type C in [Case 3] and in interactions of type A(guardian type) in [Case 4]. The process of changing steps could be found in [Case 5], which is from type A to C or D. The interaction of type B(informant type) was not found since the relationship between the severely intellectually disabled and the caregivers are very close. Moreover, type A was found to be helpful when there was an emergency situation but was not the preferred choice. Type C and D should be supported for the self-determination of disabled people. However, the interaction between type C or D was quite difficult to maintain and has the possibility to cause a dilemma. To maintain these interactions, institutional and systemic support is recommended.
