최근 정신건강 분야에서는 정신적으로 건강한 사람들은 긍정적인 착각을 지니고 있다는 새로운 견해가 제시되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 중학생을 대상으로 성별에 따라 긍정적 착각과 학교적응이 어떻게 달라지는지를 알아보고, 긍정적 착각과 학교적응과의 관계를 검토하여 학생들의 정신건강과 학교적응을 높이기 위해서 긍정적 착각의 활용가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구는 부산시내 11개 중학교 1, 3학년에 재학중인 남녀학생 715명을 대상으로 이루어졌다. 연구결과는 첫째, 긍정적 착각에 성차가 있었으며, 여학생이 남학생에 비해 긍정적 착각이 높았다. 긍정적 착각의 하위요인에서는 여학생의 비현실적 낙관주의가 남학생에 비해 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교적응에 성차가 있었으며, 여학생이 남학생에 비해 학교적응도가 높았다. 하위요인에서는 여학생의 사회적 적응이 남학생에 비해 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 긍정적 착각과 학교적응간의 관계를 알아보기 위한 정준상관분석 결과, 긍정적 착각의 하위요인 중 자기고양 편향과 비현실적 낙관이 높을수록 학교적응에 긍정적인 영향을 주며, 학교적응의 세 가지 하위요인 모두 긍정적 착각과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 긍정적 착각의 하위요인 중에서는 자기고양 편향이 학교적응과 가장 높은 관련이 있었으며, 학교적응의 하위요인은 사회적 적응, 학업적 적응, 정의적 적응 순으로 긍정적 착각과 관련되는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 본연구의 결과를 바탕으로 학생들의 정신건강과 학교적응을 높이기 위한 긍정적 착각의 활용가능성을 논의하였다.
Abstract
The major purpose of this study was to find out the difference in positive illusion and school adjustment on the distinction of sex, and to examine the relationship between positive illusion and school adjustment of middle school students. The participants of the current study were 715 middle school students sampled from 11 schools in Busan city. The survey instruments used for this study were Positive Illusion Questionnaire and School Adjustment Scale. To analyze data, analysis of variance and cannonical correlation analysis were performed. The results of this study are as follows: First, significant differences between male and female students were found in the total score of positive illusion and in the subscale of unrealistic optimism. Female students had significantly higher scores in both of total score and unrealistic optimism. Second, there were also significant differences between sexes in the total score of school adjustment and in the subscale of social adjustment in favor of female students. Finally, the result of cannonical correlation analysis performed using subscales of each variable showed that positive illusion had a significant positive relationship with school adjustment.
